Was the hare really at fault?

Everyone has heard the story about the hare and the tortoise, with the hare sleeping in between the race while the tortoise kept on moving slowly and finally won the race. For years, i've been told the story as an example that being hardworking pays off.. and everyone blames the poor rabbit for being lazy.

But was the poor rabbit really at fault? And if Yes, then what was his fault? All he did was to take some time off for himself in the race for success. And he was punished to serve as a bad example for generations to come. Is it really such a bad idea to take have some time off from work and do really whatever you want to do? And if you do it, is it worth the stuff you lose?

@soup
I dont have anything against people who work hard, but I want to support the sane people like me, who want to succeed, and also enjoy the journey...

The problem is in the outlook of people towards people like me, who dont work hard.. If we fail, for any reason, the one that is picked is always the lack of hard work... I am trying to change that outlook, as the journey should be more important than the destination... so that even if one fails, there should be no regrets.. for anyone..

basically, this is the reason why the hard workers break up if they fail.. because they dont enjoy the journey...

And it's not a social message, my problem is that these hard working people make things harder for me..

hmm .. if you say so ..
really the journey isnt more important than the destination .. the destination is of prime and utmost mportance .. because the journey is neverending, the journey is never a key to be judged...
the end result is the thing that judges makes or breaks a character!

in a race one might demolish the opposition in the first 50 laps but if you dont run the last two you shall never be worshipped!

and i feel even you would agree with what i am saying .. atleast on those night out discussions.. else you might "agree to disagree"

@Aadith.. u r right.. I can never agree with what u said..

I dont know about your priorities.. but I know that for for me, if I dont enjoy doing some work, then i wont do it.. atleast not in a way that I be the best at it..

the difference might come in the reason why we do anything.. the prime reason for me is not to demolish the opposition, or to be worshipped.. but I enjoy doing it.. I might crib in the on the way.. but those r only a few moments.. there is satisfaction n doing something as well..

demolishing the oppostition or being worshipped was an example ..
and maybe my priorities are that way... but thats not the point!

anyway .. as far as i remember you wanted to have enough money and fame by a certain age (remmeber the early morning discussion in city park?) ... to be anywhere close to THAT you need to work hard and continuously ... at least once youve chosen what you want to do ..

one cannot complain stating that he/she wanted to have some rest .. you cannot expect the world to take into account all your whims and fancies while passing a judgement..

and to be frank .. everything in life cannot be done cos one likes to do it .. sorry abt that .. however much you want to do something .. there comes a point where one has to take responsibility and do things that one does not wannt to!!

@ your replies to a certain comment ..
hard working people are sane too .. everyone is not born equal .. and these people make up for things that maybe you do not have by working harder! .. also most people are born with a similar mental ability .. and hardwork and the diligence they give to their work sets them apart! ..

@the hare and the tortoise .. the hare is a bad example and should serve as one for many more generations to come .. not just for removing his foot of the gas pedal! (which is wrng considering the fact that it was a race .. and he had taken up the work of racing!! which he should have fulfilled .. even in your philosophy) but also for underestimating the opposition! .. that is something we often do and have to pay a price for!

Well well...

As far as i remember about the discussions at city park.. they were only about being millionaires by the time v r thirty.. it never included a point that till dat time, i'll b doing what i dont like..

And you stated the problem.. If I rest, then the world just keeps running... does it mean that I shall never rest???

the questions is pretty clear.. how do u make a choice.. u analyse which more profitable, secure etc... or what do u want rite at this moment or what ur instincts say... it seems to me that u'll go wid the first option..

Anyways, as a joke and to make it more interesting.. I'll rephrase the question..

who's better.. Ms. Right... or Ms. Right Now..

hehe..

as far as city park is concerned .. read again .. the next statement is made!

@rest! yes . till you want to achieve more one cannot rest! .. but then it also depends on how much you want to achieve! ..

yes i like making it in life and i like to havbe that security of knowing where i will stand in a few years time! .. if thats what you mean!

as to the joke!! .. :D
ms. right now is a whore .. one you talk abt think abt (once in a while!).. and ms. right is the one youd take home! .. if youre trying to draw a parallel .. kinda hazy! .. if you mean ms right now is the journey and right is the hardworking side! .. well forget that .. still dont get it!
